"At 90 pages (not counting the endnotes and bibliography) this is a slim book. It is even slimmer still when you discover that fully 40 of the 90 pages are illustrations: period photos, paintings or small maps. But, given the extensive use of pictorial histories of World War I used as reference sources for much of this book, it is not surprising. Those sources, which are not pictorial histories, are secondary. There are several instances in the book where the reference "see map" is given. Either the map referred to is missing, or the reference is to the totally inadequate map found as the first illustration.

The first 25 pages of the 50 pages of text are taken up by a general discourse on the causes and general history of World War I. It is only in the second section of text, following the illustrations, that the actual subject of the book is tackled.

Another troubling aspect of the book is the question of the author's deeper knowledge on the subject. This is highlighted by his reference to Field Marshall Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf as Field Marshall von Hötzendorf, as if Conrad was his first name. (Franz Conrad von = from Hötzendorf) The book is also repetitive in many instances, such as the descriptions of equipment carried by the various troops and in the description of diplomatic events. The endnotes show evidence that the bulk of the research for this book came from the pictorial histories.

Overall, a quick read, but not a very "in depth" history of the subject. The publisher's review is definitely an inflated evaluation of this book."

Podzielona jest an rodzialy z ktorych kazdy opisuje jedna bitwe nad Isonzo. Naprzyklad pierwszej bitwie nad Isonzo poswiecono 3.5 strony plus 1 zdjecie. Ostatniej bitwie nad Isonzo poswiecono 12 stron I aż 29 zdjęć! Generalnie mozna kupic ale Jesli oczekujesz solidnej pracy poświęconej walkom nad Isonzo to możesz być zawiedzony.
